Awarding Our 2nd Annual Derek Chambers Baseball Scholarship

Time is a funny thing, flying faster and faster as we get involved in our busy daily lives. That, in part, is why we founded the Derek Chambers Baseball Scholarship. We knew it would be an annual opportunity to stop and remember Derek, the Senior Outside Sales Rep that we lost unexpectedly to a car crash.

Derek was a dear friend and admired co-worker; someone who touched many people in his personal and professional life. The passion with which he approached his work was an inspiration to all of us, and he is profoundly missed.

In his memory, we decided to donate $2500 to a student from the Lamar High School baseball team each year, anonymously voted on by teachers and students alike. Our hope is that it continues to honor Derek’s memory by encouraging and recognizing an exceptional young man moving toward his college career.

Specifically, we look for traits that include:

• Competitive through the last pitch
• Puts the team before self
• Shows respect on and off the field
• Balances the field with the classroom

Brayden is this year’s recipient of the Derek Chambers Baseball Scholarship, and we couldn’t be more excited. We wish Brayden all the best with his education and life ahead! It’s an honor to play a small role in encouraging and equipping him.
