Industrial Cleaning of a Fiberglass Manufacturing Plant in South Dakota

We always love connecting with new clients. Sometimes our name is passed along through professional networks, other times our work is spotted on social media, and still other times property owners and managers discover our name through blogs and published articles, both digital and print. We enjoy sharing our work and expertise, both for the purpose of building new relationships and partnerships, and for the purpose of educating and offering ideas and advice.
In this case, our client in South Dakota researched our work through past blog posts and project photos, then decided to contact us directly. This national manufacturer of fiberglass had a massive interior industrial cleaning project for us, and it was our pleasure to dive right in and lend a hand.
Industrial Cleaning Over a Scheduled Plant Shutdown
One of our goals here at Painters USA is to offer not only the services you need, but also the scheduling flexibility. After all, we are being invited to your facility, and it makes sense to us that we would do all we can to honor your operations and production.
Our work here was scheduled to be completed over Memorial Day weekend when the plant would be closed anyway. We collaborated closely with their team leading up to the weekend, just to ensure that we could maximize the time and perfectly coordinate with their schedule.
Cleaning Safely Around Combustible Material
Standing back and looking at our overarching goals, our main priority was to clean this industrial space and make it a brighter, more attractive, and safer environment for our client’s workforce. To accomplish this goal, we needed to thoroughly clean the walls and ceiling (over 74,000 sq ft of surface area!).
Our jobs always begin with a thorough assessment of any potential safety hazards and the formulation of a plan for how to deal with them. Combustible dust was a real threat in this facility, so we used explosion-proof vacuums to keep our team safe.
Our process for cleaning the ceiling included:
- Debris containment - we began by properly masking off the flooring and machinery beneath our work areas
- We blew down the debris
- Hand scraped any failed coating that remained after we blew down the loose materials
How about the walls? We cleaned those by hand, using specialized cleaners designed just for the purpose. After a thorough cleanup, our work was done!
