CASE STUDY: Combustible Dust Cleaning of a Ceiling & Walls.

A fiberglass insulation manufacturing facility in South Dakota had a build up of combustible fiberglass dust on their ceilings & walls that need to be addressed.  Besides being a fire hazard, there are potential health risks when in an environment of fiberglass dust that include soreness in the nose & throat.

 Main Scope & Process

Ceiling: (including deck, structural supports, cranes, and any other horizontal surfaces.)

A.) Properly mask off flooring and machinery beneath work areas

B.) Blow down debris

C.) Hand scrape any failed coating that remains after blow down

D.) Vacuum up all dust/debris using explosion proof vacuum systems

E.) Thorough clean up of work area upon completion

Walls:

A.) Hand clean to remove remove debris from all walls

B.) Vacuum up all dust/debris using explosion proof vacuum systems

C.) Thorough clean up of all work areas upon completion
