One of our longtime clients, a well-respected commercial general contractor based in Elgin, Illinois, needed help updating a commercial space that was well-structured but in need of some modernization. The facility consists of several sections, including office space and a service area that needed a fresh look.
Scope of Work
- Office Painting
- Painting the Service Area (Walls and Ceiling)
- Installing a Clear, Anti-Slip Epoxy Floor System (Including Stairs)
Wall and Ceiling Painting
In the service area, we used a "blow down" technique to prepare the surface. Two coats of acrylic paint were then applied to the ceiling, giving it a bright and fresh look.
The walls were thoroughly cleaned and prepared. The existing blue paint on the lower sections required two coats for full coverage, while the upper, non-blue sections required only one coat to achieve a fantastic look.

Epoxy Floor Installation
First, our team used diamond grinders to remove any existing coatings on the floor to ensure a clean start and create the proper floor profile. We then:
- Filled any cracks, holes, and gouges
- Applied a chemical degreaser to remove any oily areas
- Used one coat of P 3504 oil-resistant epoxy primer as the initial layer
- Applied a topcoat consisting of one layer of GP 3745, 100% solids clear epoxy
For the non-slip feature, an anti-slip additive was integrated into the wet epoxy and back-rolled to encapsulate it, enhancing both safety and grip.
