Facility Description
This project centered around two newly constructed hangars in Fort Worth, Texas, designed for the inspection of F-35 aircraft following test flights. The facilities, totaling 300,000 sq. ft., include hangars with painted ceilings and acoustical panels, an office finish with epoxy floors, and a viewing office for foreign dignitaries. This project highlights the client’s commitment to supporting critical defense infrastructure.
Requested Maintenance
The project required comprehensive interior and exterior work to meet the specific needs of the client. Key tasks included leveling uneven concrete floors on the second level by grinding and applying epoxy, redoing all taxi line striping due to unsatisfactory work by a previous contractor, and hand grinding precast concrete panel walls to prepare for a concrete stain. The project also encompassed post-construction cleanup to ensure the facility was in pristine condition.
Decision Driver and Timing
The primary drivers for this project were the necessity for high-quality, durable surfaces in critical areas of the hangars and the need for precision in aesthetic finishes to reflect the importance of the facility's function. Timing was crucial to ensure that the hangars were operational for inspecting F-35 aircraft as scheduled, requiring efficient project management and execution.
