Facility Description
The project took place at the restaurant in Skokie, Illinois, focusing on the potato-peeling and storage rooms. The combined area of the project was 1,300 sq. ft., covering both floor repair and vinyl cove base replacement.
Requested Maintenance
The primary maintenance request was floor repair in the potato-peeling and storage rooms. The facility was facing issues with cracks in the floor, drainage problems, and holes in the vinyl base that allowed pests to enter.
Decision Driver and Timing
The main driver for this project was an upcoming audit, which necessitated repairing cracks and holes to meet health and safety standards. To minimize disruption to operations, the work needed to be completed during business hours and on Sundays.
Scope of Work
- Machine and hand grind the floor to remove the existing coating and open up the concrete
- Patch all cracks and spalls using Rustoleum Instapatch
- Prime the floor with Corotech V156 Moisture Tolerant Epoxy
- Broadcast aggregate sand for anti-slip properties
- Apply top coat with Corotech V430 100% Solids Epoxy
- Remove existing vinyl cove base and install a new one
- Clean up the work area
