Based in Texas, GDC Technics specializes in the modification of private, corporate and head of state aircraft for clients worldwide. The project focused on one of their aircraft hangars, a massive structure with concrete exterior walls and a pattern of indented seams.
Project Scope
Painters USA was tasked with painting the GDC Technics logo on a large exterior wall of the facility. The logo design, while not overly complex, involved two colors and a combination of straight lines and curved shapes.
Key Challenges
Stencil Placement Issues
A third party was initially responsible for creating and placing the stencil. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the stencil placement was substandard. It had to be repositioned to a lower part of the wall, which, combined with its large size, made it impractical to use.
Urgency of Completion
Time was of the essence. The project needed to be completed quickly due to an upcoming owner's site visit, leaving little room for error or delay. In addition, the removal of the poorly placed stencil caused minor damage to the existing paint on the wall.
