Our client, an agricultural company in Roanoke, IL, operates a grain storage facility. This facility houses 16 large metal grain bins that are essential to maintaining the quality and supply of grain to markets and processors. In addition, it features a complex conveyor system that connects the bins and ensures efficient grain management.
Requested Maintenance
The client was looking for a comprehensive maintenance solution to address the severely chalky surfaces of their grain bins. The priority was to remove existing deterioration and apply a durable coating that could withstand harsh environmental conditions and extend the life of the bins.

Scope of Work
- Power Wash: A 6000 PSI power washer was used to thoroughly clean the grain bins. Dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants were removed.
- Power Tool Cleaning: Removed pack rust, surface rust and old paint, preparing the surface for the new coating.
- Epoxy Coating: Applied a base coat of Sherwin Williams Macropoxy for heavy-duty protection.
- Urethane Topcoat: Completed with a coat of Sherwin Williams White Acrolon Urethane to provide a durable, weather-resistant finish.
- Conveyor belt painting: Applied two coats of SPI Rust Grip to the conveyor belts connecting the bins.

Use of Specialized Equipment
To complete the project, a combination of aerial lifts and swing stages was required. This specialized equipment was essential for gaining access to and effectively working on the high and difficult-to-reach areas of the grain bins.
