Client Background

HCC, Inc., established in 1883 in Mendota, Illinois, has evolved into a trailblazer in agricultural harvesting equipment. With a history of strategic acquisitions and expansion - including ventures into complex steel fabrication - HCC is known for its innovation and commitment to high-quality manufacturing. Their employee-owned structure underlines a dedication to superior service and product development.

Facility Description

HCC’s Mendota facility, a hub for manufacturing parts for John Deere, is embarking on a significant renovation. With a sprawling area of 250,000 sq. ft., this facility is central to HCC's operations, reflecting their commitment to maintaining state-of-the-art manufacturing standards.

Requested Maintenance

The primary focus of this project was the transformation of the facility’s interior, particularly the ceiling. The objective was to revamp the previously dark and dirty ceiling, giving it a fresh, new, white appearance. This revamp is a crucial step in the overall facility renovation, aimed at enhancing the working environment and reflecting HCC's high standards.

Decision Driver and Timing

The driving factor for this renovation was the need to rejuvenate the facility's appearance, improving both aesthetic and functional aspects. The project was strategically scheduled during the facility's September shutdown in the southwest corner, allowing for minimal disruption to HCC's ongoing operations.

Scope of Work

  • Thorough cleaning and painting of the plant ceiling and walls.
  • Two-shift work schedule to meet the tight time frame.
  • Use of high-quality, durable paint suitable for industrial environments.

Notable Details

Efficient Time Management

The project was executed in a limited time window, necessitating two-shift workdays to ensure completion within the designated timeframe.

Minimal Disruption

Despite the scale of the project, the work was carefully planned to coincide with a period of reduced activity at the plant, thus minimizing impact on HCC’s manufacturing operations.

Transformation Impact

The shift from a dark and dirty ceiling to a clean, white one significantly enhanced the overall ambiance of the facility, contributing to a better work environment.

Client Satisfaction

The project was successfully completed within the set timeframe, meeting HCC’s expectations in terms of quality and efficiency. This endeavor not only uplifted the facility's appearance but also demonstrated our ability to manage large-scale industrial renovations with minimal operational disruptions.
