Respirator fit training guided by 3M.
Painters USA follows 3M Center for Respiratory Protection guidance with half or full-face masks and respirator fit training for worker safety and productivity.
What respirator fit training involves
A respirator is a personal protective device that covers at least the nose and mouth to reduce the risk of inhaling airborne particles, gases, or vapors. Respiratory Protection is one of the ten most frequent OSHA citations.
Since Painters USA crews are routinely exposed to fumes and airborne particles, our team members wear either half-face of full-face respiratory protection from 3M, along with other PPE (personal protective equipment) to safeguard their health. To ensure that face masks fit properly for full protection, we also provide respirator fit training.
Training includes different types of respirators, fit testing, seal check, and device care and maintenance. Most importantly, it also imparts knowledge of IDLH conditions (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) as developed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to ensure the worker can escape in the event of device failure.
Value to our commercial / industrial clients
While respiratory fit training is primarily for the benefit and welfare of our workers, this training ensures they can work safely and effectively for the duration of the project for on-time delivery and minimal disruptions to your schedules and operations. It keeps our crews compliant with OSHA and MSHA (mining industry) regulations and enables them to work in facilities and settings with other potential respiratory hazards.
