Choosing Office Colors Strategically

As we step into this colder season, the opportunity for outdoor painting and coating begins to close. This is a time to turn an eye inside your walls, and re-evaluate what message your business’ interior paint is sending to clients, customers, and even your own employees.
Interior painting certainly has a lot to do the maintenance and preservation of your property. A bright, fresh paint scheme also speaks well for your business, and presents a crisp, professional image. These are all good things!
Did you know, though, that the colors you choose also can impact your energy level, focus, productivity, and even your mood?
How Colors Impact Your Brain
We thought we’d share a fun and interesting concept related to interior painting known as color psychology. Basically, science has shown that the colors we surround ourselves with can be chosen strategically to promote a certain response or effect. Here is a short breakdown to show you what we mean:
- Red – This is an intense color. It kicks not only the brain into gear, but even has been shown to raise heart-rates! Because of this, why not use it as an accent color? After all, a little intensity is good, but too much can wear you down.
- White – While too much white can be boring to the eye, it can be used strategically. It absorbs and reflects light, while also creating an illusion of more space than is actually there, so why not use it in darker and more confined areas?
- Orange and Yellow – These particular colors tend to elicit a lot of enthusiasm, but also shouldn’t be overbearing. Try using these colors not in mainstream work areas, but in secondary spaces, like the lunchroom.
- Natural Colors – The deeper, calming nature of earthier tones can be a great compliment to the primary colors. They also tend to tone down their effect.
Interesting, isn’t it?
