In a previous blog post we discussed the value of an epoxy floor coating in a commercial or industrial environment. Recently we completed a project in Chicago that is a real-world example of this! We were approached by a forklift manufacturer that asked us to create safety striping to designate walkways throughout their plant. Due to the constant wear and tear of foot traffic and machinery, their previous striping had worn off. Commercial painting and flooring is one of the many services we offer to manufacturing facilities, auto dealers, warehouse distribution centers, etc... A lot is asked of the floors in these kinds of environments!
Creating Safety Line Striping and Walkways
Getting these floors back to (and better than!) new was a multistep process:
- Using diamond grinders, we removed the old, faded coating. This process also helped to open up the pores of the concrete underneath, making it more receptive to the new layer that was on its way.
- The safety lines were painted.
- We then coated the walkways with the fresh epoxy barrier. Again, this is tough stuff! It will help protect the floor for years to come from chipping or fading.

An investment into the health and durability of your industrial flooring is always important, but becomes especially crucial when it involves the safety and organization of the people who walk on it.
