Work that could be done over a three-day weekend like 4th of July 2022
The week between Christmas and New Year's is often used for planned downtime, but shorter breaks like 3-day holiday weekends and Thanksgiving are also prime time for maintenance.
This article will offer a few examples of projects that could be completed over a holiday weekend like Memorial Day or, this year in 2022, the 4th of July, which falls on a Monday.
Commercial painting projects that could be completed in 3 days
From floors to ceilings, and everything in between, Painters USA has you covered. Existing conditions and prep time ultimately determine the length of most jobs, because the rest of the process is quite standardized and routine, but we're sharing the following to give you a better idea and help you determine if your needs could be met in 3 days or 4 days.
Here are a few examples:
- Office painting: Walls in good condition and space that is not overly cluttered are easily painted in three days. This includes covering cubicles and other furniture and equipment (and then removing the covering) for protection and using Low-VOC or No-VOC paints. Under these circumstances, office painting projects that range between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet should be no problem.
- Warehouse painting: Ceilings and rafters are the top variable. If there is peeling paint or heavy accumulation of dust and debris, it may require more time. For warehouse projects where we don't have to take surfaces down to white metal, we could probably do up to 50,000 square feet of ceiling painting.
- Pedestrian walkways: Line striping, floor marking and color coding can be ideal 3-day projects, at least for reasonable square footage or smaller areas of large facilities.
- Machines cleaned and painted: Equipment is the kind of discrete project that can fit easily into a 3-day schedule, depending on the size and number of pieces, as well as how much intricate detail there is to work with. We can help you pass ISO 9001 or Lean Manufacturing audits, and we always comply with any lockout/tagout requirements.

Ready your facility for an upcoming VIP tour
If executives or other VIPs are planning a visit to your location, of course you will want your facility in tip-top shape. Targeted cleaning, painting, or floor polishing will make the space shine and help you put your best foot forward.
Reducing downtime and minimizing disruptions
If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that commercial and industrial operational managers loathe downtime! It disrupts normal production, opens the door to potential unwanted issues and risks, and costs time and money.
If there's another thing we know for certain, it's that unplanned downtime does all the above, amplified, and that facility buildings are important capital assets to protect.
Maintenance disruptions and production schedules will never be best buds, but we can find ways to make them better together, including holidays as an opportunity to schedule doable projects.
