A huge part of college/university life is being able to take pride in your school colors. From mugs to sweaters to sweatpants, there is a recognized color scheme that builds the sense of community and belonging in a place of higher education.
This university in Alabama has two huge silos on campus, but they lacked something very important. You guessed it: the right color.
We were happy to step in and help knit these structures right into the fabric of this school’s style.
Painting Two Silos - University Colors Standing Tall
So, what was our process?
- First we sandblasted the domes to remove all of the existing, decayed coatings and rust.
- We then power washed the domes. This took the cleaning to the next level, rinsing away any leftover dirt or debris.
- Next we laid down an epoxy primer to serve as a durable foundation for the topcoat to grip onto.
- Finally, we applied one coat of urethane with gold flake, then one coat of clear coat urethane to build an extra layer of strength and protection.
The end result? Two beacons of university pride that are ready to stand up to the elements.
