Client and Facility Overview
Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this foundry specializes in metal casting, a valuable but notoriously messy process. Casting generates significant amounts of soot and other byproducts that require regular cleaning to prevent buildup. The handling of molten metals creates harsh production conditions within the facility. Our project focused on the ceiling in one section of the foundry, where soot had accumulated to a substantial six-inch layer.
Decision Driver and Timing
The primary driver for this project was the thick accumulation of soot, which was not only unsightly but could also pose potential health risks and operational inefficiencies. The need to maintain a clean and safe production area was paramount, and our team was called in to address this issue promptly.
Scope of Work
- Protect the Area: We began by tarping off the entire section of the foundry to contain the mess and prevent the spread of soot to other parts of the facility.
- Initial Sweep: Our team then swept off the majority of the six-inch soot layer from the ceiling.
- Detailed Hand-Cleaning: After removing the bulk of the soot, we meticulously hand-cleaned the remaining residue to ensure a thorough job.
- Painting: As a final step, we painted the ceiling, resulting in a brighter and infinitely cleaner environment.
Client Satisfaction
The client was very pleased with the prompt and thorough service. The transformation from a soot covered ceiling to a clean, brightly painted surface was noticed and appreciated by all. This successful project cemented our relationship and helped pave the way for future collaborations.
